One may have language, this isn’t essential to the task. Translators are easily found, creative mind, integrity and work ethics are inbred vs. regimentation, “Guangxi” focus and focus on self. When it is learned it doesn’t always manifest itself when needed. With an elite clientele you want someone that will never slip up and a mature person that can deal with elite patrons. One with vast, world-wide and years of experience. You need one that not only caters to Chinese and Americans, someone that not only understands the Hong Kong belongers, Singaporeans and Taiwanese without regional Chinese cultural bias. A westerner does not have the barriers that a Chinese has to “walk in the door ". A Chinese can only use “Guanxi" to met high profile elite. A “LaoWai” with tact can get to almost anyone; political or commerce, Chinese or expat, if he has presence.

 This American sold security and cleaning services to the Iranian Pavilion, was an honored guest at the D. P. R. Korea's national day events and has conversed with Chinese governors. My best talent is door opening be it to Ambassadors or company chairmen.

I have been studying China since 5 years old, first visit in 1978 and have lived in China (for almost 10 years, Wuhan, Chongqing, Beijing and now Shanghai), Taiwan and Hong Kong.

I am still a partner in a sourcing company and have sold many consultancy projects.
